Former three-division world champion Shane Mosley knocked out two-time Venezuelan Olympian Patrick Lopez in the 10th round of a welterweight fight on Thursday night at the Roberto Duran Arena in Panama City, Panama, on the WBA’s KO to Drugs Festival charity card.
Mosley (49-9-1, 41 KOs), 44, overcame a first-round cut caused by a head-butt to knock down Lopez (23-6, 14 KOs), 37, in the second round and twice more in the 10th round.
The win was Mosley’s second in a row by knockout. He came out of a nearly two-year retirement in August and knocked out faded former two-division titleholder Ricardo Mayorga in the sixth round.
In the main event, Luis Concepcion (34-4, 24 KOs) retained his interim junior bantamweight title with a shutout decision against former flyweight titlist Hernan “Tyson” Marquez (39-7-1, 28 KOs). In winning 120-107, 120-107 and 120-109, Concepcion avenged a pair of knockout losses to Marquez in 2011 flyweight title bouts.
