Upcoming Fights: (10) Yves Ngabu vs Lawrence Okolie, Oct. 26 ... (8) Arsen Goulamirian vs Kane Watts, Nov. 15 ... (1) Mairis Briedis vs (2) Yuniel Dorticos, Dec. 14

Notes: This past weekend’s fight between Gvozdyk and Beterbiev was 1 vs 2, at least in our rankings, and 2 wound up trouncing 1 pretty convincingly. Beterbiev is just a nightmare style matchup for anyone in this division — some seemed to feel before the Gvozdyk fight that maybe he was a bit one-dimensional and would be susceptible to a superior boxer, especially one who can crack like Gvozdyk. But while it was far from easy, his physicality, power, chin, and somewhat overlooked boxing skill would make him, I think, a solid favorite over anyone here, and this is a damn good division. Gvozdyk drops to No. 4 — we’ll see how he bounces back next year, but Top Rank have a really good stable at this weight so he won’t struggle for opponents or anything.

Upcoming Fights: (4) Sergey Kovalev vs Canelo Alvarez, Nov. 2 ... (5) Jean Pascal vs (8) Badou Jack, Dec. 28 ... (1) Artur Beterbiev vs Meng Fanlong, TBA

Upcoming Fights: (4) Billy Joe Saunders vs Marcelo Esteban Coceres, Nov. 9 ... (10) Rocky Fielding vs Abdallah Paziwapazi, Nov. 15 ... (1) Callum Smith vs (9) John Ryder, Nov. 23

Upcoming Fights: (1) Canelo Alvarez vs Sergey Kovalev [light heavyweight], Nov. 2 ... (6) Jermall Charlo vs Dennis Hogan, Dec. 7 ... (3) Daniel Jacobs vs TBA [super middleweight], Dec. 20 ... (7) Ryota Murata vs Steven Butler, Dec. 23

Upcoming Fights: (4) Brian Castano vs Wale Omotoso, Nov. 2 ... (8) Dennis Hogan vs Jermall Charlo [middleweight], Dec. 7 ... (1) Julian Williams vs TBA, Jan. 18

Notes: Abdukakhorov didn’t make any big strides on Saturday, but his win over Luis Collazo was solid. That’s kind of been the story of him thus far — solid, but not exactly spectacular, and that’s what we’ve got a lot of in this division past the top spots, and the logjam after Ugas goes on with similar level fighters for several more guys who could just as easily be here. Abdukakhorov is in line for a shot at Errol Spence, but that’s not in the cards any time soon. If PBC aren’t willing to make a money fight with Top Rank for Spence-Crawford, they’re not likely to bother with Spence-Abdukakhorov if they can help it.

Upcoming Fights: (2) Terence Crawford vs Egidijus Kavaliauskas, Dec. 14 ... (1) Errol Spence Jr vs (6) Danny Garcia, TBA

Upcoming Fights: (1) Regis Prograis vs (2) Josh Taylor, Oct. 26 ... (8) Eduard Troyanovsky vs Josef Zahradnik, Nov. 14 ... (4) Maurice Hooker vs TBA [welterweight], Dec. 13 ... (3) Jose Ramirez vs (6) Viktor Postol, TBA

Upcoming Fights: (4) Robert Easter Jr vs Adrian Granados [junior welterweight], Oct. 26 ... (6) Javier Fortuna vs Jesus Cuellar [super featherweight], Nov. 2 ... (8) Devin Haney vs TBA, Nov. 9 ... (2) Richard Commey vs (7) Teofimo Lopez, Dec. 14

Notes: Last week’s No. 8, Francisco Vargas, fought and won on Saturday in Mexico, but it was at lightweight, he didn’t look great, he got cut, and he plans to get that fixed and sit a while. It’s possible he could return to 130 eventually, but he was borderline here in the first place, and is definitely past his prime. Rakhimov enters at No. 10 — you could probably argue he should be higher. He’s a legit-looking fighter on the way up.
