Warburton beats Heaney in rematch to retain title
Welsh fighter Gerome Warburton beat veteran Englishman Nathan Heaney to retain his WBA Continental Middleweight title.
Warburton, 31, caused a shock in March by beating Stoke favourite Heaney on points to take the title and repeated his success in a unanimous points win at Birmingham's BP Pulse Live venue.
Before the bout 37-year-old Heaney signalled his intention to retire after it. If he does so he will have won 19 of his 23 professional bouts.
Warburton made his professional debut in 2019 and three years later won the Welsh middleweight title with victory over Morgan Jones.
One of his two losses in 22 professional bouts came against Kieron Conway when fighting for the vacant British middleweight title in May 2025.
