Dillon Danis denies substance abuse involvement

Dillon Danis is refusing to take the blame for the viral photos of a strikingly similar-looking person snorting a white substance.

As has become the norm with the controversial figure, Danis pulled out of his scheduled fight late last month. The jiu-jitsu specialist was set for a highly anticipated MMA return, where he would collide with Mike Perry. Just 48 hours before the fight was to go ahead, Danis pulled out, citing an injury. UFC veteran Brandon Jenkins would end up taking a short-notice replacement opportunity to face ‘Platinum’ Perry, stepping up in place of Danis. The decision was a stroke of genius from Jenkins, who came away with the win after Perry suffered a dislocated shoulder before falling to defeat midway through the first round.

Understandably, Mike Perry was displeased with Dillon Danis withdrawing from their fight just two days before the event. Reactions became worse when a photo of a man with a similar build and look to Danis was caught on camera consuming a white substance. Due to the timing of the viral picture, fans were quick to suggest that the two incidents were connected. A heavy night of partying, followed by an excuse and subsequent pullout from his bout.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, Dillon Danis firmly denied involvement, insisting that the man in the picture was not him. Danis pointed to a clear flaw in the online photos, noting that the man lacked his distinct tattoos.

“To be completely clear: those photos are not me,” Danis said. “And anyone presenting them as authentic images of me is spreading false information.”

To further prove his innocence, Danis shared a gruesome image on social media that shows a gash in his arm. This is the same injury that is said to have forced him out of his fight with Mike Perry.
