Wang Cong couldn't get going, but the UFC 332 title challenger says there was a reason for that.

Cong (10-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) fell short in her pursuit to claim the vacant flyweight belt when she was outpointed by Natalia Silva (21-5-1 MMA, 9-0 UFC) in a unanimous decision loss in Saturday's main event at Delta Center in Salt Lake City.

Although she came on strong in Round 5, Cong claimed she was poked in the eye which affected her vision during the fight. She released a statement on her Instagram by showing off her scratched right eye ball.

"Thank you for supporting my friends," Cong said. "The game is lost, what a pity. I have some regrets then because of the first game. The eye was poked in the second half. The line of sight is blocked, and then I couldn't see it when I was poked in the right eye in the first game. Wait until later to slow down, it's too slow to enter. Where to fall, get up, go back and summarize yourself. Come on, try again."
