Jon Jones fires back at Islam Makhachevs disrespect

Jon Jones has made his thoughts clear about Islam Makhachev.

The consensus in MMA remains that Jones is the greatest to ever do it. Over a decade of dominance inside the cage. Several records; one almost impossible to beat. He stands among the greats no matter which side you stand on. While some prefer different fighters, others believe the former two-division UFC champion is excluded from ‘GOAT’ talks due to his history of failed drug tests and alleged PED use. Makhachev is one of those. In a recent interview, the Dagestani revealed that he doesn’t consider Jones one of the greats, also not counting his 20-fight unbeaten run in the octagon.

Hearing the disrespect, Jon Jones took to X to respond. Islam Makhachev’s attempt at erasing his history in the sport didn’t go down well, leading Jones to fire back.

“Let’s start this week by dispelling rumors that have been spread by people chasing me,” Jones said. “If you believe USADA for finding a picogram in my system, then you must believe USADA when they say, ‘It was not found to be performance-enhancing or intentional.’ You can’t have it both ways.”

“Last time I checked, my hand got raised every time I was in the octagon, since any of you can remember. Your own coach said I was a ‘gift from God.’ Let’s not forget you’ve been KO’d, flatlined, went night night.”

The response didn’t end there. Jones then targeted his old foe, UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier, saying:

“DC, I kicked you in the head, LOL. Keep telling yourself it was steroids. Whatever you need to tell yourselves to sleep better at night, go for it. Keep chasing; it’s lonely at the top. Islam, hopefully I’ll see you up here one day.”
