Ryan Garcia wants Terence Crawford super fight
Ryan Garcia is seeking a blockbuster fight against Terence Crawford.
High on his win over Conor Benn, Garcia is looking ahead to more reputable and more dangerous fights. After the victory on Saturday, a potential clash against Teofimo Lopez lies around the corner, should he want it. While a fight against Lopez, ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, and even a rematch against Devin Haney interest the 28-year-old, his ultimate goal is a fight that will get him the most attention. That could be ‘Bud’ Crawford.
When discussing a potential meeting against Terence Crawford, Ryan Garcia announced his interest in the fight. However, a matchup can only materialize if Crawford comes out of retirement, which Garcia believes could happen.
“I want to avenge Canelo’s loss,” Garcia said. “I just want to beat his ass, to be real. I want that. He knows that I want that. I’m willing to test him, to see where he’s at, you know, but will he come back out of retirement? I don’t know.”
“He knows he has to. Nobody knows who the f*** he is. He has to come back to boxing. He knows that, though. You can see that. The security didn’t even know who the f*** he was; that’s a problem… You know you’ve got more on the plate. What are you doing? You retired for what?”
Going out on top as the undisputed king, Crawford beat Canelo Alvarez and cemented himself to most as the greatest boxer of his generation. Unconvinced by his retirement and believing his speed and power would be a problem for the 38-year-old, Garcia has urged Crawford to return to the ring.
“I know what he’s doing. Like, he knows he didn’t do everything he needed to do in the sport yet… He’s not really retired in his heart. He retired on paper, but not in his heart.”
