Kai Asakura loving bantamweight transition after UFC Shanghai finish

Kai Asakura met the media Saturday after his win over Aoriqileng at UFC Fight Night 286.

Asakura (23-6 MMA, 2-2 UFC) stopped Aoriqileng (26-14 MMA, 4-6 UFC) with a second-round knockout at Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in China in the featured fight on the main card. 

It was Asakura’s second straight win at bantamweight after a move up from flyweight, where he had a two-fight skid, and he said he likes being at 135 pounds.

“I feel like at bantamweight, I can do my best and perform the best. … I have more power, and I have more speed, so I feel like I can fight with more confidence than at flyweight.”

“He was backing away and trying to counter with the right, so I made the distance a little bit closer. He was focusing on the body shot, so I put the head kick in there. I’m always thinking about the fans and how to make the fans happy. With this win and the last one, I think I did that.”
