Tainted supplement lands ranked UFC fighter a six-month suspension
UFC strawweight Jaqueline Amorim has accepted a six-month suspension after testing positive to a banned substance. She’s currently ranked No. 13 in the 115-pound division.
Amorim (11-2) tested positive for ostarine. The UFC anti-doping program CSAD (Combat Sports Anti-Doping) announced on Friday. Ostarine is classified as an Anabolic Agent (S1) and is strictly prohibited at all times. The samples were out-of-competition tests taken on July 29 and Aug. 17.
An investigation found Amorim’s failed drug tests were likely due to supplement contamination rather than intentional.
“After reviewing the evidence, CSAD determined that the findings were consistent with exposure to low-level ostarine contamination rather than intentional use,” CSAD said in a statement.
Amorim last fought in May, defeating Loma Lookboonmee via first-round submission. She’s has a 5-2 record inside the octagon.
